Astonishing Alumnae in the Music Field


With the passion in music, some students continue to pursue their Music degree in the university and have music as their lifetime career.

 

Born in Hong Kong, Heidi Law was awarded scholarships for graduate studies at Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, where she acquired a Master of Music in Percussion Performance. As a local multi-faceted percussionist, she has performed with artists, musicians and groups across a wide spectrum of genres.

 

Law has also developed interests in sound art works and music design for theatrical works, including Madman by Theatre de la feuille at New Vision Arts Festival 2018, and multimedia concert Dialogue of Trees, toured in Norway Mar 2017.

 

 

Rebecca Li was born in Hong Kong. She begins playing the cello at the age of twelve. Graduated from the Conservatoire de Bordeaux Jacque Thibaud in France and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She performs actively in different orchestras and musical scenes in Hong Kong. She has participated in The New Vision Arts Festival in 2014, performing with one of the world’s leading dance companies, Hofesh Shechter Company; The World Cultures Festival in 2015, with Hong Kong Episodes and went on a world tour in 2017.

 

Besides classical music, Rebecca also performs actively in different genres like pop, rock, jazz etc. She has worked with various artists such as Andrea Boccelli, Il Divo, Koji Tamaki, Coco Lee, Sammi Cheng and commercial names such as Audi, Alcatel, IFC mall, K11 Musea, Louie Vuitton etc.

 

 

 

Elaine Lui graduated from Canossa College in 2002 and furthered her study in music in the Hong Kong Baptist University. She has returned to contribute as the conductor of the School Orchestra from 2008-2019. Under her leadership, the School Orchestra has achieved the Gold Award in two consecutive years (2018/19) in the Joint School Music Competition. She is also a violin teacher privately as well as teaching and conducting in different schools in Hong Kong.

 

Fabiola Wong has studied under Eleanor Wong since joining the Junior Music Department of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts at an early age, during which she won numerous prizes and awards in the annual Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. After graduating with a Bachelor degree in Music, she received multiple scholarships and obtained a Master degree in Music and two postgraduate diplomas from Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music where she studied with Vanessa Latarche (Head of Keyboard, RCM) and Nigel Clayton. An active collaborative pianist, she has made frequent appearances with members of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. She is currently an official accompanist of HKAPA, served as the pianist of Hong Kong Chorus and Hong Kong Treble Choir. She is a regular juror of many regional and national music competitions, and was invited to interview on RTHK Radio 4 and sang as soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
