Mathematics is often considered as one of the most challenging subjects in school. Despite people's stereotypical impressions of it, it plays a vital role in the modern world as it supports the learning of other subjects and contributes to many different fields.

To better prepare our students to meet the knowledge-based information era driven by technology and creativity, the Mathematics Department not only cultivates students' mathematical knowledge, but also develops students’ abilities to think critically and creatively, to inquire and reason mathematically. E-learning practices are incorporated for further enhancing learning and teaching effectiveness and facilitating self-directed learning too.

Besides, various mathematics learning activities have been held to enhance students’ positive values and attitudes towards mathematics learning. STEM activities conducted could also provide students opportunities to see the relevance of mathematics in the real world, and strengthen their abilities to integrate and apply the learned knowledge and skills like creativity, collaboration and problem solving to their everyday context.
